Old Halidzor
The village of Halidzor is 12 km from Goris. The village was included in the Haband province and was remembered in the 10th century as “Halis”. The Kusanats desert is notable here, where a select collection was compiled through the efforts of the matron Hripsime virgin. In 1653, Hripsime virgin had a girls’ school in the desert.
In the 10th century, Princess Hamazaspuhi donated Halidzor to the Tatev Monastery, whose estate it was until the 19th century. The village church is a building from the early 17th century. 1 kilometer east of the village is the Vnsari or Vanasari monument complex, where three khachkars and several tombstones have been preserved. The village is engaged in cattle breeding, field farming, and gardening. The world’s longest cable car begins from here.
