Kapan Museum of Local Lore

The Kapan Museum of Local Lore was opened in 1969 to preserve, exhibit, and study the archaeological and ethnographic artifacts of Kapan. The museum actively participates in scientific life, conducting research and organizing events.

The first floor displays the history of Syunik in the 19th-20th centuries, Armenian-Tatar clashes, the First World War, the Battle for Zangezur, personal letters, and belongings. The entire second floor is dedicated to archaeology.

The most interesting museum exhibit is a clay vessel in the shape of a female figure, which is a unique find not only in Syunik but also throughout Armenia.
