Kapan – Heart of Syunik
Kapan is the largest city in the southern region of Armenia, situated within the picturesque valley of the Vogji River. It rests between the Bargushat and Meghri mountains of the Zangezur mountain range, at the foothills of Khustup mountain, approximately 320 km away from Yerevan. Despite its modest dimensions, modern-day Kapan boasts mostly low-rise buildings. When viewed from the summit of Khustup, the city appears nestled along the shoreline. Notably, the city sprawls over nearby hills and slopes, as if it harmoniously merges with the terrain. Within the city's boundaries, the Voghji River converges with its tributaries, Vachagan and Kavart.
